Steps to get into a business open to the public is an issue that continues to appear in the majority of Americans with Disability Act lawsuits alleging physical barriers to access for the disabled. All new construction is required by the ADA to have means for those in wheelchairs to get in and out, and all pre-ADA construction must be accessible to the extent readily achievable and structurally feasible (see our prior post about the readily achievable standard). Here we look at an example of a lawsuit filed in federal court alleging ADA violations including that the entry to the business in inaccessible because of steps at the entrance. #law #lawsuit #ada #americanswithdisabilities #disability
